No school today - get to work!

How would you fancy no school today – but going to work every day in a noisy, dangerous cotton mill instead? Until 1833 children as young as age 5 could work in Lancashire’s mills to earn money to help families buy food and clothes. It was only in 1880 – just over 130 years ago – that children age 5 to 11 had to go to school every day!

Come to the new Museum of Lancashire and find out more about what it was like to be young 100 years ago.
